How to reduce image size
- Tap Upload photos to compress and choose one or more JPG, PNG or WebP files.
- Tap Compress & Download. The result card shows the first photo’s new width, height and size in KB.
- Compare the preview with your original.
- Tap Download. Each photo saves straight to your device as compressed-<name>.jpg, with no phone number or sign-in asked.
Pick as many photos as you need in one go: every photo you choose is compressed, and the one download button saves them all, one file after another. More photo tools are on the tools page.
Image size reducer without quality loss: what is possible
Every JPG compressor throws away some detail; that is how the file gets smaller. What you can control is whether the loss shows. Where it shows first, in our experience: fine text, sharp edges against a plain background, and smooth skies or walls, which can pick up faint blocks.
This tool uses one fixed setting, 60% JPEG quality, and no slider. If the preview looks soft for your use, compress less: the image resizer lets you set a KB target, and a larger target keeps more detail.
PNG files are converted to JPG here. That shrinks most photos saved as PNG, but a transparent background turns white, so do not use it on logos or cut-outs you need transparent.
Image compressor without changing dimensions
A photo whose long side is 1600 px or less keeps its exact width and height; only the file gets smaller. A bigger photo is scaled down so its long side is 1600 px, keeping its shape. Worked from the tool’s code (22 Oct 2026):
| Your photo (px) | After compressing (px) |
|---|---|
| 1080 × 1080 | 1080 × 1080 (unchanged) |
| 3000 × 4000 (phone, portrait) | 1200 × 1600 |
| 4000 × 3000 (camera, landscape) | 1600 × 1200 |
The size in KB depends on the photo itself, which is why the tool shows the result rather than promising a number.
Image compressor with width and height or a target size
This compressor has no width, height or KB box. When a form asks for a maximum size in KB or an exact size in pixels, use the image resizer, which takes a KB target or exact pixels. For a passport-size photo with the right crop, use the passport photo maker; for a scanned PDF you need as an image, convert it with PDF to JPG first and then compress.
Product photo on a busy backdrop? Clearing it to white with the background remover before compressing usually gives a smaller file too, because a plain area compresses well.
