Shops in India sell cloth by length (metres) and describe the roll width as panna. The words are relative, not fixed sizes, so two shops can mean different widths by them. What matters for the metres you buy is the actual width, because a wider roll lets the tailor place front and back side by side. The calculator's three settings:

On 44 in fabric an S/M salwar kameez needs 4.5 m, L/XL 5 m and XXL 5.5 m. These cover kameez and salwar only. A dupatta is 2.5 m more, so an S/M suit with dupatta from the same cloth is 7 m. On double panna (60 in) the S/M suit drops to 3.75 m.
Worked example: an S/M suit in single panna cotton: 4.5 m × 1.2 = 5.4 m, rounded up to 5.5 m, plus a 2.5 m dupatta = 8 m.
