Meesho product photography with a phone, for Meesho, Flipkart and Amazon

How to shoot product photos for Meesho on a phone: a six-step home setup, what Meesho, Flipkart and Amazon actually state about images, and how to size each photo.

Meesho product photography needs a phone, daylight and a plain background, not a studio. Meesho says its detailed image guidelines are shown in the Supplier Panel and recommends uploading more than one image per product (supplier.meesho.com, read 4 October 2026). Shoot one product like this:

  1. Place the product by a window in daylight, on a sheet of white chart paper or a white bedsheet curved up the wall behind it, so there is no line where table meets wall.
  2. Switch off the ceiling bulb. Mixed yellow bulb light and daylight is what turns a white kurti cream in the photo.
  3. Hold a white card or foil-covered cardboard opposite the window to lift the shadow side of the product.
  4. Rest the phone on a stand or a stack of books and use the phone's timer, so the photo is sharp; step back rather than using digital zoom.
  5. Shoot the front first, then the back, a close-up of the fabric or work, and the product worn or in use. Meesho asks single-catalog uploads for "a sharp, clear image of the front of your products" and then additional images.
  6. Size each photo to a square before upload, so the marketplace does not crop it for you.

For step 6, use the Meesho image resizer or the Flipkart image resizer.

FlipkartIts own photography guide gives no pixel or file size; it says size "should be within the limit set by the e-commerce website" and suggests a white backgroundFlipkart seller blog, 19 July 2023 (read 4 Oct 2026)

None of the public Meesho pages we read on 4 October 2026 states a pixel size, file size or background colour, and the third-party guides that do disagree with each other (400, 500 and 1,000 px minimums). Our Meesho image guide sets out what is published and what is not. For Amazon, read the image requirements in Seller Central before you shoot; our Amazon product photography guide covers the shoot itself.

Product photography for Meesho at home: the setup

You need four things, most of which are already in the house:

  • A window with indirect daylight. Side light from a window shows fabric texture better than light from straight in front.
  • A white sweep. White chart paper or foam board, taped to the wall and curved down onto the table.
  • A reflector. White card or cardboard covered in kitchen foil, opposite the window.
  • A phone stand. A small tripod, or the phone propped against something steady, with the timer on.

Shoot between mid-morning and mid-afternoon, when window light is steady, and photograph a whole batch in one session so the colour matches across the catalog.

Ecommerce photography for Meesho: framing and size

Fill most of the frame with the product, keep it centred, and leave a little white around the edges so a square crop does not cut off a sleeve or a pallu. Photograph sarees and dupattas both draped and folded, so the buyer sees the border and the body fabric.

Then make the photo square. The Meesho image generator places each photo, uncropped, on a 1000 × 1000 px white square inside an 8% margin and saves a JPG. The Flipkart resizer offers 1000 × 1000, 500 × 500 and 1200 × 1200 px presets and fills empty space with white. Neither changes the colour of your product, so the light you shot in still decides how the photo looks.

Flipkart product photography: what changes

Flipkart's own photography guide suggests a white background and leaves the size to the limit its upload form sets, so the same white-sweep photos usually work for both marketplaces. What changes is the listing, not the shoot: give each marketplace its own SKU code and title, and check each seller panel's upload guidance before you reuse a set. Selling sarees on both? Frequently asked questions

What background should I use for Meesho product photos?

A plain white or very light background. Meesho's public pages do not name a colour and say the detailed guidelines are in the Supplier Panel, so check there; Flipkart's own guide suggests white because it suits most marketplaces.

What size should a Meesho product photo be?

Meesho's public pages state no pixel size, and third-party guides disagree. A 1000 × 1000 px square is a common choice; check the size your Supplier Panel shows at upload and resize to that.

Can I take product photos for Meesho with a phone?

Yes. Use daylight from a window, a white sweep, a reflector and a steady phone with the timer on. A sharp, evenly lit phone photo meets what Meesho asks for: a sharp, clear image of the front of the product.

How many photos should a Meesho listing have?

Meesho recommends more than one image per product. Shoot the front, the back, a close-up of the fabric or work, and the product worn or in use.

Can I use the same photos on Meesho, Flipkart and Amazon?

Often, if they are on a plain white background and sized to each marketplace's square. Check each seller panel's image rules before you reuse a set, because each marketplace sets its own.

Do I need a Meesho product photographer or a photo studio?

Not for most catalogs. The six-step phone setup above gives the sharp, clear front image Meesho asks for, plus the back, close-up and in-use shots. Book a photographer or a studio when you need worn shots on a model for many products at once, and give them the same front, back, close-up and in-use list.

Next step: list the products
