Surat saree market: what the city trades, and what it does not
Surat’s trade is man-made fibre textiles, by SRTEPC’s account. SRTEPC, India’s synthetic and rayon textiles export council, calls Surat “the Textile Hub and the Silk City of India” in its Source India 2022 brochure; a DC-MSME district profile says Surat “is mainly known for its textiles and diamond cutting & processing industries”. We print no output or share figure: sources disagree.
One craft carries legal protection: Surat Zari Craft, registered as a Geographical Indication (application 171, filed 21 May 2009, in IP India’s state-wise GI list). Use “Surat zari” in a listing only when the thread really is Surat zari.

Surat fabric market: checks before you pay
Ask before paying whether a shop takes back faulty pieces, and assume not unless it says so in writing. Synthetics hide faults until washed or unfolded, so run these four checks on one sample saree.
Colourfastness
Rub damp white cotton on a hidden fold of the darkest colour. Dye that comes off there will come off on a customer’s blouse, and that is a Meesho return with photos attached.
Print registration on the repeat
Open a saree fully and find where its print repeats. Colours sitting off their outlines at a join mean misaligned screens, which shows in any close-up Meesho listing photo.
Hand and weight of georgette or crepe
Georgette and crepe sold under one name can feel very different. Compare two pieces from one lot side by side; a thinner, stiffer piece is a different quality at the same tag.
Whether the design repeats next month
Ask directly. A design you cannot reorder is one Meesho listing that dies when the pieces sell out, so price that risk in.
Saree manufacturer in Surat or trader: how to find and check one
- Start on Ring Road, in whichever complex Textile Infomedia lists for your kind of saree.
- Treat “manufacturer” as a claim. Entries on Textile Infomedia and similar directories are written by sellers themselves; ask to see their unit or repeat orders before believing it.
- Compare three shops in Silk City, Millenium or whichever complex you start in before buying from any.
- Ask three things: rate at your quantity, whether a design repeats, and who bears a defective piece; get each rate in writing with GST shown separately.
- Book a transport agent through your shop and photograph its docket before bundles leave Ring Road.

Surat saree wholesale price list: what we found
There is no official or current Surat saree wholesale price list that we could find. We searched on 22 and 23 Oct 2026: directory listings say “ask price” or “price on request”, and a page titled as a 2023 price list carries no figures.
A Surat rate depends on quantity and on which week you ask. Ask for it at your real quantity, per piece, and keep that message: a written quote is your price list.
